Ambas propuestas estarán presentes en los próceres independentistas y adquirirían mayor promoción entre los intelectuales y líderes políticos más auténticos desde el inicio de la vida republicana hasta la actualidad. La necesidad de asegurar la soberanía de los pueblos latinoamericanos frente a los imperios coloniales y neocoloniales promovió las ideas de su unidad e integración parcial o regional, en forma de confederaciones que facilitaran ciudadanías regionales con la aspiración de una ciudadanía latinoamericana. ABSTRACT The concrete utopia of possible integration and a Latin American citizenship appear from the eighteenth century, articulated to the evolution of the concept of identity and homeland, Both proposals will be present in the independence of the proposals and acquired greater prominence among the most authentic intellectuals and political leaders from the beginning of Republican life to the present day. The need to ensure the sovereignty of Latin American peoples in the face of colonial and neocolonial empires promoted the ideas of their partial or regional unity and integration, in the form of confederations that facilitate regional citizenship with the aspiration of Latin American citizenship.
